Enjoy these light and fluffy German-style donut holes, perfect for a quick treat or dessert. They are fried to golden perfection and dusted with powdered sugar.

Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 eggs eggs
  • 100 grams sugar
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 250 grams quark (See notes for substitutions)
  • 100 milliliters milk (can use any kind of milk)
  • 375 grams all purpose flour
  • 16 grams baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • powdered sugar powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • oil oil for frying

Instructions 

  • Mix eggs, sugar, vanilla, quark, and milk until smooth. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; stir to form a thick batter. Adjust with milk if needed.
  • Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (180°C).
  • Scoop batter with two spoons and fry in batches until golden brown, about 3-5 minutes. Flip halfway.
  • Remove donuts with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Cool slightly.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving. Optional: fill with jam or Nutella using a pastry bag.

Notes

Ensure oil temperature is correct for even frying. Quark can be substituted with Greek yogurt or ricotta.
