A classic German marble cake with swirled chocolate and vanilla flavors, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Butter and Dry Ingredients

  • 20 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened to room temperature (2 ½ sticks)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5 large eggs (at room temperature)
  • 3 Tablespoons milk (at room temperature)

Chocolate Swirl

  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon espresso powder (optional) (to enhance chocolate flavor)
  • 3 Tablespoons milk (at room temperature)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar (for decorating)

Instructions 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (176°C). Grease a bundt or round pan.
  • Beat butter, sugar, and salt until smooth. Add vanilla and eggs one at a time, mixing well.
  • Add milk and mix. Combine flour and baking powder separately, then gradually mix into batter.
  • Divide batter; mix cocoa, espresso, and milk into one part. Swirl dark batter into light batter in pan.
  • Bake for 40-50 minutes. Cool, then dust with powdered sugar.
